Food Pantry
A food pantry for residents of Snow Hill and the surrounding area is operated by Ebenezer United Methodist Church. All Hallows makes significant contributions of food to the pantry and several members of the All Hallows congregation assist in the operation of the pantry.
Christmas Party at Adult Medical Day Care Center
Each year during Advent, members of the congregation serenade the clients at the Day Care Center with Christmas Carols, encourage the clients to participate in additional carols and provide cake and punch for the clients and staff at the center.
Ministerial Association
The minister at All Hallows is an active member of the Snow Hill Ministerial Association. The association performs a number of ministries in the Snow Hill area. Each year, the association holds an ecumenical service on Good Friday and another on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. These services rotate among the churches in town and are planned and lead by the host minister. A minister of the association leads a prayer at the Blessing of the Combines in October, a Christmas Service at Furnace Town, bi-weekly prayers for the County Council, a monthly service at the Adult Medical Day Care Center and frequent visits/programs at the Snow Hill Christian Nursery School. The association also administers an emergency fund supported by all the churches and used to assist families in the Snow Hill area.
United Thank Offering
Twice a year, the congregation makes an extra contribution, collected at home over a several month period, that is forwarded to the national organization to fund grants for a wide variety of projects throughout the nation.
Discretionary Fund
On the first Sunday of each month, the loose offering collected is applied to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund. In addition, donations to the priest for weddings, funerals and other special services are added to the fund. The fund is used to assist members of the congregation who are in need and to also help support the emergency fund of the Snow Hill Ministerial Association.
Pancake Supper
The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper is the principle fund-raising activity of the All Hallows ECW (Episcopal Church Women). Many members of the congregation assist the ECW members with food preparation, serving, clean-up, etc. More than 200 sit-down and 250 carry-out dinners are typically prepared at this function.
Church Periodical Club
Members of the congregation are encouraged to deposit loose change in their pockets and purses in a collection jar. The contents of the jar are periodically consolidated and forwarded to the diocese, which in turn, makes gifts to seminary students for the purchase of text books and other printed materials.
Mini Bazaar
The ECW maintains a set of shelves in the parish house for a wide variety of donated items that are sold at nominal prices or for a donation. Items include delicious jams and jellies, pickles and condiments, books, video tapes, household items, etc. Money collected is used by the ECW in its outreach program.
Vacation Bible School
Snow Hill churches annually sponsor an ecumenical Vacation Bible School for all children and adults in the Snow Hill area. Several churches, including All Hallows, host various portions of the school and provide refreshments.
Use of Parish House by Outside Organizations
The parish house is made available at a nominal charge (sometimes free) for use by outside organizations. Recent examples of such activities include: Weekly Rotary Club meeting, training of Census Takers by the U S Census Bureau, meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous, a retreat for the Vestry of another church. The parish house is also designated as an emergency shelter by the Red Cross.
Chi Rho
[This ministry is currently inactive in the Town, but could be revived with sufficient interest from the various churches]. In association with several other Snow Hill churches, All Hallows supports a religion-based activity for young people in grades 7 through 12. They meet for two hours every Sunday during the school year for Bible study, Christian based discussion, praise music, recreation and refreshments. The churches take turns hosting the group and the pastor of the church usually leads the studies and discussions.
In addition to the ministries described above, the Church supports a significant number of activities in the Snow Hill area through monetary contribution, either from the Rector’s Discretionary Fund or the outreach program of the ECW. Some of the supported activities include the following: Camp Agape, the Sheriff’s Christmas Fund for Children, Snow Hill High School After-Prom. Samaritan House and Shelter, Joseph House, Worcester County GOLD.
